After Mishale, his son, was murdered [RSC: monster], Akili's life was like a nightmare [RSC: sleepy face]. First came denial, then sadness as reality set in [RSC: sad face]. Initially, he used to visit the city [RSC: tall building] every day to pressure the police [RSC: a tower] in its investigation [RSC: magnifying glass], but  the investigation has not gone anywhere.

Not knowing where else to turn [RSC: multidirectional arrows], Akili found new purpose and comfort in the Good Book.He has since become the village's preacher, and de-facto spiritual leader along with his wife. He advocates a return to old fashioned values. The other villagers believe his intentions are generally positive, if conservative (UNE's motivations will be taken not as truths, but as perceptions by others).

Aminika understandably went through many of the same emotions as her husband after Mishale's death. She dutifully joined him in the quest for justice [RSC: a scale] from the authorities [RSC: tower], as she feared correctly that there would be other victims [RSC: kid afraid of shadow].

When that failed, Aminika began to distance herself from the rest world [RSC: tower, globe]. Initially, she locked herself away from others[RSC: keyhole],  but like Akili she found herself increasingly drawn to the Bible [RSC: magnet, book]. Eventually, she believes, God provided her and her husband with illumnination [RSC: lightbulb] on His plan for the people of the village [RSC: tipi].
